Operations

Finance Analyst

Munich (Hybrid) Full-Time €50,000–€62,000 per year Reports to Head of Commercial Operations

Summary

We’re looking for a Finance Analyst to run HeyCharge’s day-to-day finance operation. You’ll own accounts payable and receivable end to end, prepare monthly payroll, keep our employment and personnel records straight, and act as the standing contact for our external bookkeeping firm and Steuerberater. When month-end arrives the books are clean, because you kept them clean all month.

You’ll report to our Head of Commercial Operations to start, and move under the Head of Finance once that hire lands. In the meantime you’ll be building the workflows the finance function inherits rather than slotting into someone else’s — which makes the first months unusually visible. If you like the version of finance where you get to decide how the process actually works, this is that seat.

About HeyCharge

HeyCharge makes EV charging work in places it was never supposed to — underground garages, multi-tenant buildings, and any other concrete-and-rebar environment where cellular signal goes to die. Our offline-first SecureCharge platform uses Bluetooth for local session authentication and Zigbee mesh for inter-charger load management and cloud sync. No internet required at the charger; no compromise on reliability or billing accuracy.

We’re Munich-headquartered with team members across Germany, Ukraine, and the US, selling into property managers, utilities, and OEMs across Europe, the US, and Latin America. Our partners include Vonovia (Europe’s largest residential landlord), Easee and Emobi. We’re backed by Y Combinator and EU innovation funding, with a culture that’s Google-rooted on engineering, AI-first and automation-first on operations, and allergic to bureaucracy that doesn’t earn its keep.

Responsibilities

  • Accounts payable. Process incoming supplier invoices end to end — coding, approval routing, payment runs, and vendor queries. Suppliers get paid on time and nothing sits forgotten in an inbox.
  • Accounts receivable. Issue customer and partner invoices, track what’s outstanding, and chase overdue balances politely but persistently. The days-sales-outstanding number is yours.
  • Payroll administration. Prepare monthly payroll inputs for our external provider, check the output before it goes out the door, and resolve the discrepancies when something looks off.
  • HR administration. Maintain employment contracts, personnel files, onboarding and offboarding paperwork, and holiday and sick-leave records — the administrative half of people ops, done properly.
  • External advisor liaison. Be the day-to-day contact for our external bookkeeping firm and Steuerberater: deliver the monthly document package, answer their queries, and chase the answers we need back from them.
  • Month-end support. Reconcile bank and card accounts, prepare accruals and prepayments, and hand the close a tied-out set of books instead of a pile of open items.
  • Process automation. Find the finance steps that shouldn’t be manual — receipt chasing, invoice entry, report assembly — and automate them out of existence.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years in accounts payable/receivable, Finanzbuchhaltung, or a finance-operations role at a startup, scaleup, or Mittelstand company.
  • Commercial or finance training — a completed Ausbildung (Industriekaufmann/-frau, Steuerfachangestellte/r, or similar) or a degree in business, finance, or accounting. Either path works.
  • Fluent German and English. German is not optional here — our Steuerberater, our payroll provider, and most of our suppliers work in German.
  • Payroll exposure. You’ve prepared inputs for an external payroll provider and know Lohnsteuer and Sozialversicherung well enough to catch an error before it’s paid out.
  • DATEV or comparable bookkeeping software in your working hands, plus genuine spreadsheet ability — lookups, pivots, and reconciliations that actually tie.
  • Discretion with sensitive data. You’ll see salaries, contracts, and personal records every week, and you’ll treat all of it accordingly.
  • Nice to have: a modern spend-management tool (Spendesk, Pleo, Moss), invoicing across more than one legal entity, or exposure to EU grant cost reporting.

Personal Characteristics

  • Detail-oriented: A misposted invoice or an unreconciled account compounds quietly for months. You catch them in the first week, not the fourth.
  • Ownership mentality: You take responsibility for the deadlines and for the relationships — with suppliers, with the payroll provider, with the Steuerberater.
  • Automation-first: You instinctively look for ways to remove repetitive work rather than just doing it faster.
  • Discretion: You handle salary and personal data with care and professionalism, without needing to be reminded.
  • Hands-on and pragmatic: You’d rather fix a broken process than write a memo about it.

Closing

If you’d rather build a clean, automated finance operation than inherit someone else’s mess, this is the seat. Tell us about a finance process you fixed, and what it looked like before you got there.
